Black Cats ready to listen for offers on fringe players

Steve Bruce is uncertain about the future of a number of players in his Sunderland side this January. After a humbling defeat to Notts County in the third round of the FA Cup, the Sunderland boss is now looking at his options in the transfer market. Bruce admitted it was a relief to bring back players that had been out on loan as injuries mount up at the Stadium of Light. Despite his depleted squad, Bruce is standing by the transfer policy he outlined before the New Year. "I said before the January transfer window opened that I would expect more players going out than coming in and that remains the case," Bruce told the Sunderland Echo. "Players have come back for a variety of reasons and it's certainly helpful to be able to bring in players like Jack [Colback] and Andy [Reid] at a time when we are down to the bare bones and we need to give players a rest. "But there are still opportunities for these players to move on and we won't stand in their way if a bid arrives which is suitable for all parties."
