Nottingham Forest manager Steve McClaren is looking forward to adding Wesley Verhoek to his squad after winning the race for the ADO Den Haag winger.
Verhoek was a target for Rangers and Fulham, but Forest revealed on Monday that a fee, believed to be in the region of £2million, had been agreed with Den Haag.
The 24-year-old is now putting the finishing touches to his move to the City Ground and McClaren believes Verhoek is joining a club big on ambition.
"It has been dragging on for a long time but we are finally getting there," said McClaren in the Nottingham Evening Post.
"But that is good. Wesley had a good season last season and he created a lot of interest in himself.
"But me knowing him already and having a relationship with him probably swayed it for him. He wanted to come to England and he is joining a club with big ambition.
"He is a player I know well from my time in Holland. He is a wide player who can play on either side, who delivers a great cross."
McClaren's first game as Forest boss ended in a 0-0 home draw with Barnsley at the weekend and he expects Verhoek to provide greater creativity.
He added: "When you look at the game on Saturday, we needed that end product.
"We needed somebody to provide assists, to provide penetration - Wesley Verhoek has that ability."
