Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cotterill has admitted that Chris Cohen's long-term absence after undergoing knee surgery is a major blow.
The 24-year-old suffered the injury against Derby last month but surgeons have had to wait until the swelling had gone down before they could perform the operation.
Cohen, who can play at left-back or in midfield, had the surgery while his team-mates were helping their new manager post victory in his first game at the helm with a 2-0 win over Middlesbrough.
And Cotterill knows the absence of the player will weaken his squad as he tries to catapult them up the Championship table.
He told the club's official website: "It's a real blow for us to lose a player of Chris's calibre for a long period but he's now had the surgery and he's already into his recovery.
"Everyone will be wishing him well."
