Leeds boss admits interest in Leicester defender Mills

Leeds United manager Neil Warnock is not expecting to improve his squad before Saturday's game against Southampton after confirming his interest in Matt Mills. Sky Sports revealed earlier this week that Leicester City defender Mills is weighing up an offer to join Championship rivals Leeds on loan. Warnock has made defensive signings his priority and is also interested in Bolton Wanderers' experienced full-back Paul Robinson. However, the new Whites boss is still waiting to finalise any signings and believes the visit of Southampton will give him a good chance to assess the players already at his disposal.

Opportunity

"We're looking to bring a couple in, I think everybody knows that," said Warnock on Sky Sports News. "He's (Mills) one of the names mentioned and we've talked to two or three clubs about a number of players, but until there is something concrete it doesn't look like anyone will be coming in before the weekend. "I read stories here, there and everywhere, and we just have to get on until we can get something on the dotted line. "We've lost Adam Smith, who's gone back to Tottenham as well, so we're a bit thin. "But I still think it's an opportunity for the lads who did so well last weekend to show me what they can do in the spotlight of having 20,000 fans, the pressure that brings with the league leaders and TV. "It's going to be good for me to look at them and see how they come up."
