Chris Burke is determined to stay positive about Birmingham's chances in the play-offs, despite his painful past experiences of the end-of-season lottery.
The Scotland winger was a member of the Cardiff side that twice fell short in the Championship play-offs, including a dramatic 3-2 Wembley final defeat against Blackpool in 2010.
The former Rangers man left the Bluebirds last summer to join Birmingham on a free transfer and his performances at St Andrew's have earned him the club's Player of the Year award.
Burke can add a further gloss to his campaign by helping the Blues past Blackpool and into the play-off final, avenging his heartbreak against the same opposition two years ago in the process.
Speaking ahead of the first leg at Bloomfield Road on Friday the 28-year-old insists he remains confident about his side's chances, despite his previous play-off failures.
"Yes, I played in the final and it was painful," said Burke.

"But this is something you play football for, to get involved in these kind of games.
"If anybody asked would you take being in the play-offs not knowing what would happen, then you would, yes. You can't be negative.
"We have to be confident going into it. Everybody has to get behind us.
"If we do that and have that positive energy then it'll help us."
