Martin's Starting Stats from Upton Park

The first match at Upton Park was a 3-0 win over Millwall in the Southern League in September 1904 and the scorer of the first goal was Billy Bridgeman.

The first Football League goal was scored by Lincoln City in 1919 and the first top division goal was scored in 1923 by West Ham's Bert Fletcher, his only goal for the club.

The first Premier League goal was scored by Wimbledon's John Fashanu and the last was scored by Winston Reid on Tuesday night against Manchester United. It was his fifth goal at Upton Park - plus he's scored two own goals there.

The 3-2 win was the first time West Ham have beaten Man United since 2010, when they beat them 4-0 in the League Cup. In the league it was the first win since December 2007. In 14 league matches since then before Tuesday night they had drawn three and lost 11.

Michail Antonio scored his seventh goal in 16 appearances at Upton Park and Diafra Sakho scored his 11th goal in 26 games there.

Andy Carroll is still waiting to score his first goal for any club against Man United. He's faced them 13 times.

Anthony Martial scored in his third consecutive appearance after goals against Everton and Leicester. He became the last player to score a double at Upton Park.

In the end, West Ham played 2398 competitive games as the home side at Upton Park. Their record is:  W1274 D583 L541 F4538 A2733. They also played two FA Cup games as the away team when a fixture was switched, which means they played 2400 competitive matches there in total.

Has anyone missed more penalties in a PL season than West Brom? Adrian, Tamworth

Tony Pulis was not happy with a draw at Bournemouth
Image: Tony Pulis has seen his side fail with four penalties

MARTIN SAYS: Craig Gardner's failure in West Brom's 1-1 draw at Bournemouth was their third in a row, and their fourth overall this season after Saido Berahino's double failure in the 1-0 defeat by Watford last month and James Morrison's failure in the 3-2 defeat by Chelsea back in August. All four were saved.

And if West Brom were to fail to convert another on the final day of the season against Liverpool at the Hawthorns, they will equal an unwanted record.

Tottenham (1994/95) and Liverpool (2011/12) both missed five penalties in a season, the worst record in Premier League history, while Blackburn (2006/07 and 2011/12), Spurs again (1993/94)*, Aston Villa (1998/99), Leicester (1994/95)* and Arsenal (1992/93)* all missed four.

*42-game season.

Leicester have been awarded 13 penalties this season, how does that rank in Premier League history? Francesco via Twitter

Jamie Vardy of Leicester City celebrates

MARTIN SAYS: Jamie Vardy's second penalty in Leicester's 3-1 win over Everton on Saturday Night Football was the Foxes' 13th spot kick of the season, and would have been their 11th conversion but for the striker's miscue.

Of the 10 penalties scored this season by Leicester, Vardy has converted five, with Riyad Mahrez scoring four and Leonardo Ulloa one.

Saturday's award took them level with Crystal Palace's 13 penalties in the 2004/05 season, 11 of which were converted by Andrew Johnson. Johnson scored 21 in total that season, but couldn't prevent Palace falling back into the Championship on the final day of the season.

Chelsea (2009/10), Arsenal (2006/07), Blackburn (1994/95) and Liverpool (2013/14) all won 12 penalties each.

Olivier Giroud scored another headed goal on Super Sunday, has any Premier League player scored more since he arrived? Liam, Islington

MARTIN SAYS: The Frenchman's goal in Arsenal's 2-2 draw at Manchester City at the Etihad was his 18th headed goal in the Premier League since making his debut in August 2012, three more than any other player in that period.

Christian Benteke, who also made his Premier League debut in August 2012, has scored 15 with his head in his 116 appearances, at a rate of one in every 7.7 games compared to Giroud's one in every 7.4 games.

Romelu Lukaku and Andy Carroll have netted 12, while Peter Crouch and Shane Long have 10 apiece to complete the top five.

Which side has the best play-off final record, and which has the worst? Tim, Leeds

Image: Sheffield United fans have suffered play-off agony

MARTIN SAYS: Their situations may be very different at present, but Blackpool and Crystal Palace are the kings when it comes to play-off final wins.

Blackpool have tasted success in the season finale on four occasions, including their dramatic 3-2 win over Cardiff at Wembley in 2010 to earn promotion to the Premier League.

Their other wins came against Scunthorpe on penalties in 1992 (Division 4 to the then-new Division 2), Leyton Orient in 2001 (Division 3 to Division 2), and Yeovil in 2007 (League 1 to Championship).

Crystal Palace have also triumphed at the play-offs four times, and all from the second tier into the top flight. They saw off Blackburn over two legs in 1989, Sheffield United at Wembley in 1997, West Ham at Cardiff in 2004 and Watford at Wembley in 2013.

On the other hand, Sheffield United have tasted defeat at the play-off final more than any other British side, with falls in all four of the finals they have played.

Their defeat by Palace in 1997 came before agony against Wolves in 2003 (Division One to Premier League), Burnley in 2009 (Division One to Premier League) and Huddersfield Town on penalties in 2012 (League 1 to Championship).
