Danny Hylton appeared to take a dive to earn his side a penalty against Blackpool in the League Two play-off semi-final second leg

On a day where the FA announced plans to punish simulation with retrospective action, forward Danny Hylton produced a controversial moment in the second leg of Luton's semi-final play-off with Blackpool.

With the League Two play-off tie finely poised at 4-4 on aggregate, Hylton appeared to take a dive in the Blackpool box to earn his side a penalty.

Hylton picked himself up to score from the spot, although it was Blackpool who then edged a thrilling tie 6-5 on aggregate.

The FA's bid to stamp out simulation will begin next season, with players found guilty of 'Successful Deception of a Match Official' set to receive a two-match ban.

The retrospective action could be taken where an alleged act leads to a penalty, meaning the incident involving Hylton would almost definitely have been considered after he took a tumble moments after Ian Black stuck out a leg.

Blackpool will feel a sense of justice after they turned the tie around, although it was a cruel blow for Luton goalkeeper Stuart Moore, who ultimately conceded a 95th-minute own goal after the ball was struck against his own back.
