Richie Wellens gave Steve McMahon's side the perfect start in the home leg of the tie when he made it 1-0 after just three minutes of the game by firing in from 12 yards out.
Highly-rated John Murphy (pictured) added a second goal after 38 minutes when he headed in Paul Simpson's cross.
The Terriers hit back ten minutes after half time when Danny Schofield fired in a shot from the edge of the box to give the visitors hope.
Scott Taylor restored The Seasider's two-goal lead when he scored his first goal for the club since moving from Stockport.
The Blackpool fans will now be looking forward to a trip to Cardiff as they take a two-goal lead back to Yorkshire, although Huddersfield are still not out of the tie and will be hoping to turn things around at The McAlpine Stadium.
