Vernon heads for Seaside

Blackpool have secured the loan of Oldham Athletic striker Scott Vernon.

Blackpool have secured the loan signing young striker Scott Vernon from League One rivals Oldham Athletic.

The 20-year-old arrives at Bloomfield Road, having fallen out of favour with The Latics this season.

With Oldham boss Brian Talbot signing fellow striker Kevin Betsy from Barnsley this week, Vernon has seen himself fall down the pecking order at Boundary Park.

Seasiders boss Colin Hendry was keen to add some more firepower to his struggling squad and will be delighted to secure Vernon's services on loan.

The youngster was more than happy to make the temporary switch to Blackpool.

"I haven't been figuring at Oldham for the last three or four games, he (Hendry) liked what he saw and he obviously wanted to take me on loan," Vernon told Blackpool's official website.

"Part of my job is to score goals, as a striker you set yourself targets to score goals and hopefully I can get a few for Blackpool."
