Blackpool's bid to extend the loan of Scott Vernon from Oldham has been rejected.Blackpool's bid to extend the loan of striker Scott Vernon from League One rivals Oldham Athletic has been rejected.
Vernon's initial one-month loan spell at Bloomfield Road has concluded and The Seasiders wanted to keep the 20-year-old for a further two months.
The Seasiders had claimed their offer had been accepted by their League One counterparts but Oldham insist they have snubbed the bid.
The young hot shot had impressed during his first month with The Seasiders, scoring three goals in four appearances.
Bloomfield Road manager Colin Hendry was suitably impressed to make a cash bid for the 20-year-old but that was rejected by Oldham.
After failing to land Vernon permanently, Hendry tried to persuade The Latics to allow the forward to stay on the coast for an extra two months.
But Vernon, who missed Blackpool's 2-1 win over his employers on Sunday, must now stay at Boundary Park after Oldham's decision.
