Blackpool boss riled by reluctance to introduce technology

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has launched a scathing attack on Fifa for their reluctance to introduce video technology to football at the highest level. The Seasiders boss thought his men had opened the scoring against Manchester City at Bloomfield Road on Sunday, only for Gary Taylor-Fletcher's effort to be incorrectly ruled out for offside. City went on to triumph 3-2 in a thrilling Premier League contest, and Holloway feels the reluctance of law-makers to bring in replays to aid the match officials is holding the game back. Fifa are currently discussing the possibility of introducing goalline technology but at present have no plans to allow further technology, due to fears it will disrupt the flow of matches and that it would not be available at all levels of the game. It is a stance which clearly angers Holloway, who elected to adopt a fairytale analogy to make his point in typically eccentric fashion. "What is the sense in (pundits) saying, 'let's put a white line across this pitch and oh look, he's onside there, and he (the referee) is wrong'," the Blackpool boss said.

Emperor

"We can show the fourth official that and he will say it is a perfectly good goal. Blackpool would have been 1-0 up. What would that have done to Man City? How long would that have stopped the game? "I would have been smiling because my team would have got the rewards they deserved and football would have been moving on. "Just because lower league football, boys football, park football, haven't got it... so what? We are all aspiring to be at the very top level where you expect it to be right. "I'm against the people who are deciding that they are not allowed to use the technology because it is unfair to people below the level. Absolute nonsense, again. "No-one is going to quieten me down when I think I'm right. "That emperor has got no clothes on, by the way, he is absolutely buck naked. That isn't a smart suit, you're naked, pal."
