Stoke boss Tony Pulis has confirmed Ricardo Fuller has undergone successful surgery on his Achilles injury.

Striker set to be ruled out for four months

Stoke boss Tony Pulis has confirmed Ricardo Fuller has undergone successful surgery on his Achilles injury. Fuller sustained a ruptured Achilles tendon injury during last weekend's draw at Aston Villa to rule him out of next month's FA Cup final against Manchester City. The injury is likely to sideline Fuller for up to four months meaning he faces a race against time to be fit for the start of next season. "Ric's going to be three or four months, which is a massive blow to him and a massive blow to us," said Pulis. "He had the operation yesterday and they tell me everything's going fine." Fuller joins Danny Higginbotham and Matthew Etherington on the sidelines and Pulis admitted it was a major blow to lose the trio. Higginbotham will miss the start of next season after suffering cruciate ligament damage earlier this month while Etherington will be given until the last-minute to prove his fitness ahead of the FA Cup final after suffering a hamstring injury in the midweek win over Wolves. "We've been very unfortunate losing Higginbotham, Fuller and then Matty picking that injury up," added Pulis. "It's going to be a difficult enough game for us anyway, but to lose three very influential players - if Matty doesn't make it - is going to make it doubly difficult.''
