Rangers defender Kirk Broadfoot is happy to be back playing, despite opening pre-season with a defeat to German minnows Sportfreunde Lotte.
The 26-year-old played his first game for eight months as Rangers lost 1-0 to the team from one of the regional leagues below the third tier of German football.
Broadfoot has only played 30 first-team games for Rangers since suffering a foot problem in the League Cup final defeat to Celtic in March 2009 so he was relieved to come through 90 minutes in Lotte on Thursday night.
"After so long on the sidelines with my injury, I was just delighted to be back playing and it's good to be involved again," he told Rangers' official website.
"At this stage of the summer, our games are all about fitness and that's especially the case with me after the first half of the year."
Broadfoot, who is likely to start as a substitute when Rangers take on Bochum on Saturday, added: "It's all fine and well doing your rehab and getting back to training but it's nice to make the step up and start playing games.
"The more of them I get, the fitter I will become and I'm really happy to have come through the match without any problems. Now I'm looking forward to the next game."
