Ian Holloway admits Blackpool experienced a deadline day 'disaster' but claims those supporters bemoaning a lack of activity have been 'spoilt'.
Expectations around Bloomfield Road have risen since the club's one-season dalliance with the Premier League.
Some fans now expect considerable investment to be made in the playing staff, allowing for another tilt at the top flight to be made.
Holloway, though, has called for a sense of realism, with the club having overachieved in recent years.
He admits he had hoped to bring in more than just Daniel Bogdanovic and Ian Hurst on Wednesday, but has been quick to point out that he is working to a tight budget.
Holloway told the Blackpool Gazette: "We had a bit of a disaster on deadline day.
"The truth is that it was really frustrating. This was the worst one I've ever been involved with.
"Do people not realise Blackpool shouldn't even have got to the Premier League, considering the budget we were on?
"The club might never get there again, so I think the fans have been spoilt and that's why I don't like some of the things I read."
