ard Blackpool midfielder Keith Southern has signed a new deal at the club which will earn him a testimonial. The 30-year-old has agreed a one-year extension to his contract to take him beyond the 10 years' service required. Southern signed for the Tangerines from Everton in 2002 and played a key part in their promotions from League One and the Championship and he is delighted to pledge his future to the Bloomfield Road outfit.

Scary

"I moved away from home at 16 and the thought of uprooting again was quite scary," he told the club's official website. "I didn't want to go through that again because I'm settled where I live now and my little boy is going to be starting school in the next 18 months or so. "It was really important that I kept things as they were and I never really wanted to leave Blackpool anyway. "The chairman has promised me a testimonial so he obviously thinks highly enough of me to do that and it'll be quite special. To stay at a club for 10 years is quite rare."
