Town boss feels striker is getting back to his best

Ipswich boss Paul Jewell hopes in-form frontman Michael Chopra can maintain his recent goalscoring streak. Chopra netted three times last week as Town beat table-toppers West Ham and bottom club Coventry, where he notched twice. The second of that brace was a last-minute winner and Jewell is hoping this purple patch continues.

Patches

"Chops tends to score in patches, I said that to him at the start of the season," he told the club's official website. "He's now our leading scorer with 10 and we hope he goes on a run now." The summer recruit has recently admitted to having a gambling addiction and late last year he checked into the Sporting Chance Clinic. However, Chopra is now showing the sort of form to suggest he is overcoming his personal issues. "We are all really pleased for him. He's had his problems but the club, fans and players have rallied around him," added Jewell. "He was really sharp for the first goal at Coventry when the penalty was saved and then it was a great header for the winner. He's got his swagger back and could have had three or four."
