Valiants clinch double deal

Port Vale have swooped for Danny Whitaker and Colin Miles.

Port Vale have strengthened their squad with the addition of two new players.

Midfielder Danny Whitaker has ended weeks of speculation by signing from Macclesfield, while defender Colin Miles has joined from Yeovil.

Whitaker (pictured) rejected an offer of a new deal at Moss Rose in order to clinch a two-year contract with The Valiants.

Port Vale boss Martin Foyle is excited about the energy that he will bring to the side.

"Danny gives us that enthusiasm in midfield and has the ability to make good forward runs and get in the box," he told The Sentinel.

"He has a good attitude and now this is a chance for him to make that step up."

The capture of Miles will add experience to the squad, while Foyle also plans to exploit his versatility.

"Colin has a sweet left foot, is a big strong lad and has that ability to play in different positions," he praised.

"I want a strong back four and I believe we have a good group of defenders with Colin, George Pilkington, Michael Walsh, Richard Walker, Mark McGregor, George Abbey and Jason Talbot."

Foyle also revealed that he is no longer pursuing Tranmere striker Delroy Facey or Brentford midfielder Eddie Hutchinson.
