Yeovil Town remain hopeful they can sign Accrington Stanley winger Gary Roberts.
Yeovil Town boss Russell Slade remains hopeful he can sign Accrington Stanley winger Gary Roberts.
The West Country club have made a final offer - thought to be around £50,000 - to the League Two new boys for the 22-year-old.
Last season's Nationwide Conference champions turned down Yeovil's previous offer of £20,000 for the highly-rated left-sided player and Slade will not hesitate in looking elsewhere for new faces, if he cannot land Roberts.
"We've made a final offer, but we've not been given permission to talk to the player yet," Slade told the Western Daily Press.
"We can only go so far and we think we've made a fair, sensible bid.
"Hopefully, Accrington will regard it as a fair offer. If they don't then we'll move on to other targets."
Stanley chairman Eric Whalley, however, seems determined to keep hold of Roberts, even though the player seems tempted by a switch to the Somerset outfit.
"He is under contract, so Yeovil are out of order," accused Whalley. "This is down to money.
"Gary has decided he wants to move because of the offer Yeovil have made him. They are working through an agent.
"But I would prefer to make him sit on his backside for a year, because he has 12 months left on his contract."
