Faulconbridge has been the subject of sustained interest from Athletic boss Andy Ritchie, with a bid of £200,000 having already proved unsuccessful.
Meanwhile Ferguson could be persuaded to leave the club after being overlooked for the position of manager following the departure of Brian Flynn from the Racecourse Ground.
Wrexham are currently in a dire financial position, and it would seem likely that it is little more than a matter of time until they lose the star duo who, alongside Lee Trundle, are currently the club's biggest assets.
Armstrong, meanwhile, is a highly-rated 19-year-old who has previously attracted attention from both Burnley and Preston North End, and he has been described by Shakers boss Andy Preece as being "out of this world".
Latics chief executive Alan Hardy told the club's official website: "Our intention is very clear. Andy Ritchie has permission to bring in players that will improve and strengthen the squad and ultimately achieve our objective of securing promotion.
"However, we are determined to get value for money with the players we sign and we will not be forced into paying what we consider to be inflated prices.
"Unfortunately we have been frustrated by clubs that are unwilling to release the players concerned."
