The 21-year-old was signed from Ryman League outfit Chesham United where he played for three years, for £20,000 with a further £10,000 based on appearances.
Hall's performance on Monday made this transfer fee look a bargain, he appeared confident and comfortable at the heart of the Latics defence which kept its first clean sheet in 11 games.
Coach Iain Dowie remarked: "He was the one who stood out. Fitz was playing non-league football a couple of weeks ago and to come in like he did was absolutely excellent.
"He showed good ability and a will to win and it was a pity there weren't more like him."
Oldham's tail-end run has been a huge disappointment seeing them take just four points from the last 18.
The Latics currently lie in ninth position with 64 points and three games remaining.
They face Stoke on Saturday at Boundary Park, travel to Wycombe Wanderers and then end the season at home to Queens Park Rangers with Hall hoping to continue the stunning impact of his debut.
