Johnson's Latics future in the balance

Oldham Athletic boss Brian Talbot is yet to decide if they will keep striker Jermaine Johnson at Boundary Park next season.

The speedy Jamaican is banned for the final two matches of the season after signing a permanent deal on transfer deadline day in March.

The 23-year-old's short-term contract expires at the season's end and the former Rushden & Diamonds manager will not make a decision on a new contract until then.

"I will speak to JJ, but decisions won't be made about any player until the season has finished," Talbot told the Oldham Chronicle.

"Myself and the owners have discussed the situation at a board meeting, and we agreed that concentrating on staying up was the most important thing.

"JJ is a player who can make you tear your hair out - he is brilliant one minute and very disappointing the next.

"He is also a talented lad with lots of pace, so we'll see what happens after our last game on May 8."
