Latics hit by Johnson blow

Oldham's Jermaine Johnson looks likely to be out for the next six weeks.

Oldham Athletic have been hit with the news that influential striker Jermaine Johnson looks likely to be out for the next six weeks.

The Jamaican international was forced off in Tuesday's LDV Vans success over Accrington Stanley and the early scans to not bode well.

A medial ligament strain was detected and another concern is whether cartilage damage has also occurred - although this cannot be confirmed until the injury has settled.

Johnson's injury has been further compounded by the confirmation that wide man Kevin Betsy will serve a three-match suspension.

The former Barnsley favourite saw red for violent conduct against Accrington and will begin an immediate ban at the weekend.
