Oldham Athletic have tabled a bid for Bury striker Chris Porter.Oldham have turned to neighbours Bury in their bid to land a new striker, with Chris Porter the latest name to be linked with the League One strugglers.
New Latics boss Ronnie Moore is desperate to improve his strikeforce but has been thwarted by several players since arriving at Boundary Park.
Dele Adebola, Luke Beckett, Carl Asaba, Gary Jones and Elvis Hammond have all been earmarked but thus far Moore has yet to land his man.
However, the club are more confident that Porter will be lured to Boundary Park having tabled a bid to financially struggling Bury.
''Porter is a long way from being proven, but he has potential and could make us stronger,'' Moore told the Oldham Evening Chronicle.
''I would like to bring him in permanently, although I'm not against signing him on loan and taking things from there.''
The Latics are hopeful of concluding a deal for Porter in time for him to be included in their squad for Tuesday's game with Brentford.
