Latics rejected Mellor bid

Oldham Athletic have confirmed the club rejected a 'tempting offer' for versatile teenager David Mellor.

Fulham reported to have offered £300,000 for versatile teenager

Oldham Athletic have confirmed the club rejected a 'tempting offer' for versatile teenager David Mellor. The 18-year-old made his debut for the Latics at the start of this season and has now made nine appearances in total for the first team. He has primarily been used at left-back by Oldham boss Paul Dickov, but is also capable of playing on the left of midfield. Premier League club Fulham reportedly offered £300,000 for Mellor, but failed to tempt Oldham into selling the former Manchester United youngster. Latics chief executive Alan Hardy did not reveal which club had made a bid for Mellor after deciding it was not the right time to accept the offer. Hardy told the Oldham Chronicle: "It was a tempting offer, but not one we chose to accept at the time."
