Hull midfielder Sam Clucas is having his medical at Swansea ahead of a proposed move which Sky Sports News understands will total £16.5m.

The 26-year-old left-sided midfielder has been a target for the Swans and Burnley, who had their own bid for the player rejected earlier this month.

The Swans approached Hull ahead of the weekend fixtures and Clucas did not feature in the 18-man squad for the Sky Bet Championship defeat at QPR on Saturday, forcing the player to insist on social media that he was not on strike.

Clucas' medical is expected to be completed on Wednesday, with his former club Chesterfield owed five percent of any excess over £1.3m - the fee they charged for him in 2015 - due to a sell-on clause.

The League Two Spireites stand to earn as much as £760,000 from the new deal, taking their profit on Clucas to over £2m. He had thrived for Chesterfield under Paul Cook in League One.

Clucas continued to improve under Steve Bruce in the Championship and then Mike Phelan and Marco Silva in the Premier League last season, despite the club's relegation.
