Swindon Town have bolstered their ranks with the capture of Adebayo Akinfenwa.League One new boys Swindon Town have bolstered their ranks with the capture of Adebayo Akinfenwa on a free transfer, on the proviso that he passes a medical.
Since electing not to sign a proposed one-year deal at Swansea, the big front-man has attracted plenty of interest and had a number of clubs pursuing his services.
Having weighed up all the offers on the table, the 25-year-old former Torquay man plumped for a move to Swindon, having been convinced of the club's potential upon meeting manager Paul Sturrock.
"We have signed Adebayo Akinfenwa on the proviso that he passes the second part of his medical," Sturrock told the club's official website.
"The first part of the medical took place today and the second part will take place over the weekend. Hopefully we will be in a position to confirm that everything has gone through, on Monday.
"I have followed his career from afar and before he broke his leg last term he had scored six goals for Swansea City last season.
"He is a real handful and will cause problems for other teams. He could prove to be the perfect foil for the other players here."
