Swans striker signs new three-year deal with Welsh club

Swansea striker Stephen Dobbie has penned a new three-year deal at the Liberty Stadium. The 27-year-old has committed his future to Brendan Rodgers' Championship side as the club seek promotion to the top flight. Premier League new boys Blackpool expressed an interest in signing the Glasgow-born player but Dobbie has ended speculation by extending his current deal until June 2013. The Swans' highly-rated forward expressed his joy at penning a new deal, by telling the club's official website: "I'm delighted. Discussions have been going on for a couple of weeks. "I know there have been a few enquiries from Blackpool along the way, but I'm glad I've put pen to paper and can concentrate on my football with Swansea City. "I didn't find the interest from Blackpool too unsettling because it means you must be doing something right when other teams want to buy you. I went there, did well and have fond memories of the place."

Committed

Dobbie, who spent the final four months of last season on loan at Bloomfield Road helped the Seasiders secure promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs. But the striker is now committed to the Championship outfit. "It's all about Swansea for me, especially with the new gaffer (Brendan Rodgers) in charge," he said. "He's been fantastic with me and I want to repay him with a few goals. "We've got a lot off attacking options in the side across the front line and from midfield, which is fantastic." Dobbie started his career at Rangers in 2002 but failed to make an impression at Ibrox moving onto Hibernian the following season. The striker made his mark at Queen of the South where he notched an impressive 47 goals in 83 apperances for the club. The Scot had a troubled time when he first arrived at Swansea due to injury but after last season's success at Blackpool, Dobbie is now fully committed to the Swans' promotion push.
