Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray has revealed Leroy Lita will line up against Portsmouth next Saturday if his move to Swansea stalls.
Boro accepted a £1.75million bid for the striker earlier this week and he was granted permission to discuss personal terms with the Welsh team.
But as of yet no deal for the striker has been concluded with the Premier League new boys.
And Mowbray admits he will have no qualms putting him into the starting line-up for their opening Championship game on August 6th.
"Leroy said he would give me a ring as soon as he knew anything definitive, whether he was coming back or staying there, and I've had no message from him," the Boro chief told the Gazette.
"If he goes we wish him well, if he comes back there's every chance he will line up against Portsmouth next Saturday."
