The forward has been a revelation in South Wales since joining the Swans last summer from Rayo Vallecano for just £2million.
He has scored 18 goals in all competitions to help keep Michael Laudrup's men in the top half of the Premier League, as well as playing a key role in their impressive run to the Capital One Cup final.
His performances for Swansea have seen Michu inevitably linked with high-profile moves elsewhere, with big-spending Russian duo Zenit St Petersburg and Anzhi Makhachkhala thought to be keen.
And while Swans defender Rangel admits the 26-year-old has earned a move to a top club, he admits the Welsh side would be loath to lose him.
He told AS: "Michu is a scorer and these players are the ones who make the difference in a team.
"We have great players but Michu has been our goal man.
"I selfishly hope so (that he will stay). But if he goes to a great club it will be well deserved."
Rangel says he has formed a bond with fellow Spaniards Michu, Pablo Hernandez and Chico Flores but says there is no divide with the rest of the group, insisting it is a tight-knit squad.
He added: "Normally you tend to interact more with your compatriots but the whole team is a group and we are united."
