Garry Monk has stated that striker Wilfried Bony is looking forward to returning to Swansea City ahead of the new season.

Bony enjoyed an impressive debut season at the Liberty Stadium after scoring 16 Premier League goals following his arrival from Vitesse Arnhem last summer.

The 25-year-old was also in form at the World Cup after scoring for the Ivory Coast against Japan and Greece as his country bowed in the group phase.

He has been linked with a string of rival Premier League clubs, with the likes of Arsenal, Everton and Newcastle United all reported to be interested.

Liverpool have also been reported to be looking at Bony as a possible replacement for the Barcelona-bound Luis Suarez.

However, Swansea manager Monk has spoken to Bony and he is preparing to welcome the forward back into his squad.

Monk is quoted by The Sun as saying: "I spoke to Wilfried and he is looking forward to coming back into work."
