A late Jake Jervis penalty earned Sky Bet League Two leaders Plymouth a point in a 1-1 draw at home to Hartlepool.

The visitors took the lead when a Nathan Thomas cross-shot looped over the goalkeeper but Argyle levelled in the 84th minute through Jervis' spot-kick, given against Toto Nsiala for a high boot on Jimmy Spencer.

Pools boss Craig Hignett was sent to the stands for his protests and defender Scott Harrison was dismissed for a second booking in time added on but there was little time left for Plymouth to find a winner.

Doncaster had started the day in second but they were beaten 3-1 at Luton.

In-form Rovers midfielder James Coppinger slammed home the opening goal from close range, but Luton were level in the 36th minute when Cameron McGeehan finished a superb team move with a neat finish.

The Hatters were in front before the break when Jack Marriott was sent clear by Danny Hylton and slotted through the goalkeeper's legs and a McGeehan penalty secured the points nine minutes from time.

Portsmouth moved behind Plymouth with a crushing 5-1 win against Barnet.
