Jason Kennedy has signed a new two-year deal that will keep him at Carlisle until 2019.
The 30-year-old midfielder has scored 18 goals in 93 appearances for the Cumbrians since joining the club from Bradford in 2015.
"We know all about Jason and we're delighted that he's chosen to stay with the club," manager Keith Curle told Carlisle's official website.
"He's had offers from other clubs which were financially stronger than ours but he enjoys Carlisle United, he enjoys what this club is about, and he feels he has a job to do.
"If you think back to the start of last season he had to stake a claim for a regular starting place. He got his head down, worked off those around him, and became a vital part of what we were doing.
"We went on to see how much we missed him when he picked up his injury in January.
"As I say, I am delighted that he'll be with us again next season because he is a fantastic professional and a pleasure to work with."
