Abbott hints at Marc role

Carlisle boss Greg Abbott insists Marc Bridge-Wilkinson could earn a start if he returns from his loan at Darlington on January 8.

Bridge-Wilkinson, 31, found first-team football hard to come by with the Cumbrians at the start of the season and has been on loan at Darlo since October, where he has impressed and has scored three goals in 13 games. Abbott told the club's official website: "Bridgey has had a great time over at Darlington and, again, they really like him. He is a terrific person to have around and he has been unfortunate that the form of the likes of (James) Berrett, (Tom) Taiwo and (Paul) Thirlwell have kept him out with us this season. "He is another who needs to play regular football, so we would need to listen to anything that might be said about his situation following on from the end of his loan spell on 8 January. We haven't heard anything just yet, and he's another who would be more than welcome back here. "I'm sure that his recent form would mean that he would be pushing for a starting place from the moment he got back with us if that does turn out to be the case." Elsewhere, Carlisle's away match against Oldham which was due to be played on Boxing Day but was postponed because of a frozen pitch at Boundary Park has been rearranged for Tuesday February 15, kick-off 7.45pm.
