Swindon manager Paolo Di Canio and Carlisle's Greg Abbott praised Cumbrians' goalkeeper Mark Gillespie after a 2-2 draw.

Gillespie, making just his third start for Carlisle, walked away with the man of the match award after a series of fine saves to deny Di Canio's men, his best two minutes from time to deny substitute Gary Roberts. "The Carlisle keeper made a fantastic save from Roberts at the end," said Di Canio. Abbott added: "We know what Mark Gillespie can do. He made some terrific saves and we needed him." Carlisle's on loan Birmingham striker Jake Jervis was on target twice in an all-action opening period. Adam Rooney fired Swindon level, then Jervis scored his second with a blistering shot before Paul Benson raced clear to slot the ball home from 10 yards - the third goal in a four-minute spell. Di Canio said: "We are a work in progress, but I'm disappointed we did not make more of our chances. Carlisle had two shots and two goals which both came from bad defensive mistakes by us."
