Tranmere Rovers will meet Richard Caborn to plead Calvin Zola Makongo's case.Tranmere Rovers are due to meet with Minister for Sport Richard Caborn in a bid to keep striker Calvin Zola Makongo in the UK.
The former Newcastle United starlet has been unable to play for Brian Little's side since November because of a work permit issue.
The Home Office have told the 20-year-old that he must return to his native Democratic Republic of Congo to collect a visa before being granted a work permit for the UK.
Zola, however, fears his life may be in danger if he returned to his homeland, with Rovers having petitioned Immigration Minister Des Browne without success.
Browne believes Zola's fears are 'unfounded', but Prenton Park chairwoman Lorraine Rogers hopes a meeting with Caborn and Labour Parliamentary candidate for Wirral South, Ben Chapman, on Tuesday will aid Zola's cause.
"Calvin is not looking for any special favours, but he's genuinely afraid to return to the Congo," Rogers told the club's official website.
