Dons boss and prolific striker scoop monthly awards

Karl Robinson and Ryan Lowe have been named the League One manager and player of the month for August. MK Dons boss Robinson is rewarded for overseeing a flying start to the season from his side, while prolific frontman Lowe has been among the goals again. Robinson has taken the MK Dons to the top of the third tier table, dropping just two points along the way. They moved to the summit in August, having taken four wins from their five fixtures. An opening day draw with Hartlepool required a last-minute leveller, but the Dons have not looked back since then. Exeter and Yeovil were edged out in their next two games, before Chesterfield were hit for six. The Dons ended the month with a 1-0 victory over League One new boys Stevenage.

Deadly

While Robinson has been setting the benchmark off the field, deadly marksman Lowe has been setting it on it. The 32-year-old already has four goals to his name this season, and that return is enough to see him at the top of the scoring charts. All of his efforts to date came while on the books of Bury, but he will be looking to add to his tally with new employers Sheffield Wednesday. Lowe completed a switch to Hillsborough on transfer deadline day and will be hoping he can maintain his high standards with the Owls.
