After nine home wins on the bounce, Dave Penny's Division Three high-flyers were looking to clock up ten in a row, but fell to a stubborn Red Imps side.
A bumper crowd of 9,500 packed the South Yorkshire ground to see Rovers continue on their promotion charge - but Lincoln came away with all three points
Both home and away fans applauded together as Imps boss Keith Alexander made an appearance after recovering from his brain surgery - and three points were the perfect get well present.
Tim Ryan sent the visitors on their way after just 12 minutes when he put through his own net, before Gary Fletcher (pictured) fired in an overhead kick to seal the points.
Donny miss out on the chance to return to the top of the table while Lincoln enhance their play-off position.
