Latics skipper stays focused

Dean Furman is ready to put cup distractions to one side as Oldham prepare to face Huddersfield in League One.

Latics skipper Furman proudly led his side out against Liverpool in the FA Cup on Friday, and Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy northern area final first-leg against Chesterfield lies tantalisingly on the horizon. However, despite also producing some impressive performances in the league, erratic recent form leaves Paul Dickov's side slumped in mid-table ahead of Saturday's trip to the Galpharm Stadum. "Sometimes the cups can form a distraction from the league, but the most important thing is that we focus from game to game," said Furman. "It's important that we continue to build this second half of the season. "We want to stay in the race for the play-offs. We're 10 points off at the moment which isn't a bad position to be in. "The league is our bread and butter, the cups are a bit of a bonus at the end of the day and we're excited, but the in the league we really want to get that consistency and make a push for it."
