Harris, last season's top-scorer for The Lions with 28 goals, was expected to miss the majority of the new campaign after being diagnosed as having testicular cancer.
But Lions boss Mark McGhee confirmed the 24-year-olds recovery is going well and he could be back in action in two months time.
"He will be back in training in two weeks and should be playing in two months," McGhee said after seeing his side lose 2-1 in Keith 'Rhino' Stevens' testimonial.
"The problem we had was that his cancer news actually got out before the proper diagnosis was announced.
"When the proper diagnosis came it was the best outcome we could have wished for. He had the operation and two weeks of radiotherapy and now we'll soon welcome him back to training."
