Trailing to first-half goals from Tim Cahill and Nick Chadwick, Bradford came out in the second period fighting and after Danny Cadamarteri and Andy Gray had hauled their side level, substitute Michael Branch escaped the offside trap and chipped the onrushing Tony Warner to hand Robson a fabulous start to his tenure.
It had looked like a baptism of fire for Robson - who took over at the struggling Division One club this week - with Millwall quickly picking up a two goal lead courtesy of strikes from Cahill and loan man Chadwick.
Cahill had been in the right spot to fire home when Alan Combe blocked a Chadwick effort, following good work from youngster Aboubacar Fofana.
Chadwick, on loan from Everton , then found a wonderful strike from range to leave the Bradford fans wondering if they were experiencing another false dawn.
However, in the second half, another man with a Toffee past - Danny Cadamarteri gave his side hope when his fine control and low shot found the back of the net.
Scotland international Andy Gray then grabbed a leveller - to the obvious delight of his new manager - when he evaded his marker and fired a fine shot home from the edge of the area.
Valley Parade began to believe that this could be the start of a beautiful friendship, and it fell to yet another ex-Evertonian in Branch to canter through and chip delightfully home.
