Coppell boosts squad with loan signing

Reading have signed Dan Harding on loan from Ipswich and allowed Emerse Fae to join Nice for an undisclosed fee. Former England Under 21 international Harding, who can operate anywhere on the left, will remain at Portman Road until the end of the season. Royals boss Steve Coppell felt it was important to add to his squad ahead of the final push for promotion back to the Premier League. He told the club's official website: "At a time when the window is coming to a close, Dan will give us that extra element of competition and insurance going into what is a very critical stage of the season. "He can do a good job for us anywhere on the left-hand side of the pitch and he is a player that I know well."

Fae

Fae, meanwhile, has sealed a permanent move to Ligue 1 after leaving the Madejski Stadium to join Nice on an initial loan deal in the summer. Director of football Nick Hammond said: "Sometimes you buy players and for one reason or another it doesn't work out. "But Emerse Fae is a good player and he's gone to a good club; the deal suited both parties and we wish him all the best." Royals defender Alan Bennett has agreed to extend his loan spell with League Two promotion hopefuls Brentford until the end of the season.
