Alan Dunne admits he is "heartbroken" to be leaving Millwall.

The 32-year-old defender, who joined the Lions at the age of eight, has been released by boss Neil Harris after 390 appearances and 23 goals.

"I want to say thank you to the fans, the chairman and the club and wish Neil the very best of luck in the coming seasons," he told the club website.

"I hope to one day be back working with the young players to achieve their dreams.

"I am really heartbroken to be leaving Millwall. My dream was always to retire in a Millwall shirt but after 23 years my time has come to move on.

"I have achieved things I could only have dreamed of as a boy. To be part of two promotions, an FA Cup final, Europe, winning Player of the Season, a testimonial and, of course, being made captain and playing nearly 400 games, makes me very proud.

"There have been some truly great memories over the years."
