The 30-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year contract after passing a medical at The McAlpine Stadium.
The Nigerian international's arrival is a further boost to new Terriers boss Peter Jackson as he looks to plot a quick return back to Division Two.
"He's a great asset to the club. He's got bags of experience and is an extremely versatile defender," Jackson told the club's official website.
"I knew when I took the job that there were two things that I needed, defenders and experienced players, Sodje gives me both of those."
Jackson also suggested that Sodje is likely to be the last new face to arrive at the McAlpine during pre-season.
"Obviously I would like to bring more players in, but I have a tight budget to work to and I am hitting those targets right now.
"If all goes well I may be able to bring someone in on loan, but we will have to wait and see."
The deal will be finalised once the Yorkshire club move out of administration.
