Varney seals Crewe deal

Luke Varney has agreed a new two-year deal at Crewe.Luke Varney has handed Crewe a boost by agreeing a new two-year deal with the club.
The 22-year-old forward has impressed of late and Dario Gradi has rewarded the star with an improved contract.
Varney was snapped up from non-league football in 2003, and has excelled in The Championship.
"He has improved a lot since we signed him," Gradi told the club's official website.
"I have told him that I think he is making real progress and he is a better player than he was when he came here."
Meanwhile, Crewe's attempt to sign American trialist Mark Schulte has been ended because the club feel they could not procure a work permit for the player.
Schulte has impressed in his spell at the club, but Gradi admits that it is looking bleak.
"Unfortunately it looks like he isn't going to get a work permit, which is a real shame," said Gradi.
"He will have to find another country to play in."
In other news, Alex centre back Ryan Austin has again been interesting Conference club Burton Albion, where he spent two months on loan this term.
