Vaughan eyes Premiership

Crewe ace David Vaughan is aiming to transfer his talents to The Premiership.

Crewe Alexandra ace David Vaughan is aiming to transfer his talents to The Premiership.

Vaughan was Crewe's match-winner on Saturday as his stunning late strike earned his side an opening day win over Burnley.

The Wales international has established himself as the lynchpin of the Crewe midfield and has been linked with a move to the top flight.

The 23-year-old is aware of the interest and admits that, if a club come in with a bid, Crewe boss Dario Gradi will not stop him leaving Gresty Road.

"I've heard people talk about me playing in The Premiership and, of course, I'd love to one day," said Vaughan.

"They do not stand in your way at Crewe if they feel an offer is right for you and the club."

Having made an impressive start to the new campaign, Vaughan is now hoping to be included in the Wales squad for next month's World Cup qualifier with England.

He added: "I was training with the full Wales squad in May and it would be great to be involved against England."
