Gradi to honour Grant deal

Crewe have confirmed that they will be signing Tony Grany in January.

Crewe have confirmed that they will be signing midfielder Tony Grant in January.

Grant was set to sign for Crewe after he spilt with Bristol City - whom he joined in the summer following his release from Burnley.

However, red-tape has prevented Grant from signing for Crewe - and thus he was only able to train with The Railwaymen.

Grant has now broken his ankle during a reserve encounter with Crewe and he would have struggled to get back to full fitness in time for January.

Despite the injury, Gradi has now decided that Crewe will honour the initial agreement and sign Grant - whether he is fit or not.

"Tony got injured playing for our 'reserves' so of course we take responsibly for that," Gradi said.

"We have a duty to the player and I've already told him that we will sign him in January."
