Crewe watching Wilson

Dario Gradi has confirmed Crewe's interest in Cheltenham defender Brian Wilson.

Dario Gradi has confirmed Crewe Alexandra's interest in Cheltenham Town defender Brian Wilson.

The full-back has been placed on the transfer list after rejecting an extension to his Cheltenham contract which expires at the end of the season.

John Ward will reluctantly sell Wilson in the transfer window and Gradi admits he is keeping an eye on the player's situation.

"Brian is one player we have watched," Gradi told the club's official website. "He would be one of a half dozen, but we do know all about him.

"We believe he is out of contract in the summer and that he could be available, so we'll have to see what materialises.

"I'm sure there will be other clubs interested in Brian and I'm sure there will be a few bigger clubs than Crewe looking at him as well."

Meanwhile, Crewe midfielder David Vaughan is out for several weeks after breaking his nose in the midweek draw with Cheltenham.

Gradi said: "David has broken his nose and we expect to be without him for a few weeks.

"He has broken his nose and that usually takes at least four or five weeks to heal properly."
