Dario Gradi does not expect Billy Jones to leave Crewe during the transfer window.
Dario Gradi does not expect Billy Jones to leave Crewe Alexandra during the January transfer window.
The versatile teenager is out of contract at the end of the season and Crewe were originally looking to ship Jones out this month.
Reports claim Derby County are lining up a £1.5million bid for the youngster, but Gradi has yet to receive any offers.
Jon Otsemobor is another player out of contract in the summer, but the Crewe boss is not predicting any winter departures.
"I've said before that I don't expect anyone to leave during the January transfer window," Gradi told the club's official website. "We have received no offers for any of our players except for Luke Rodgers.
"Yes, Jon and Billy are on the transfer list, but I gather they will probably wait until the summer anyway.
"I would like to keep Billy, because he has made a difference to our defending."
Strike duo Luke Varney and Nicky Maynard have also been linked with moves away from Gresty Road, but Gradi is not looking to sell.
He added: "I am certainly in no rush for the strikers to leave. They are both still learning and people tend to forget that this is their first full season in the team really."
