Davis backs Miller to bag more

Crewe boss Steve Davis is convinced one goal will bring many more for out-of-sorts striker Shaun Miller.

Saturday's victory over Hereford was the 24-year-old's 13th game without finding the target, but Davis paid tribute to his unflinching work ethic. "Shaun worked tirelessly for the team on Saturday," he told Crewe's official website. "I watched the DVD again and his movement and runs were good. "It is not for the want of trying with Shaun because the effort is there from him. It's not going for him at the moment but I'm sure if he gets the rub of the green and gets one then the rest will follow. "It has been a frustrating time for him but he is exceptional in his finishing in training, tucking them away as usual. It is probably the longest he has ever gone without a goal but he has got his head down and he is working hard to turn things around." Miller racked up 19 goals last season and six to his name in the current campaign. Davis added: "If he can recapture his earlier form before January then you never know what might happen with Shaun, because everyone knows he is a goalscorer."
