Davis curses poor Railwaymen

Crewe boss Steve Davis had no excuses after his side failed to muster a chance of note in the 3-0 humbling by Hartlepool.

Victory was never in doubt after Pools took the lead in the 27th minute of Tuesday night's League One clash at Victoria Park when Charlie Wyke headed in from close range. Jon Franks fired in low from 18 yards after 39 minutes and substitute Andy Monkhouse smashed in the third in the 90th minute to leave Davis cursing their lack of consistency. "It's disappointing, we didn't perform at all," he said. "Some really extremely poor performances I have to say. "That's why we are where we are, we cannot maintain a consistency week in, week out. "We have nights like this and as long as we do that we will be a nearly team. "It's not good enough, we want to go to the next level and those performances won't do that. Everyone of them was well below what they are capable of and you won't win games like that. "Fair play to Hartlepool. It's a difficult place to come and they have confidence from the wins they have got - I'm not taking anything from them."
